Director 

Keirin is a registered architect who has extensive experience working on both regional and international projects across the medical, resort, and hotel industries. He has played a key role in the planning and delivery of complex healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and specialized medical centers, ensuring that designs align with industry standards, patient needs, and operational efficiency. His deep understanding of healthcare environments allows him to create spaces that enhance functionality, patient care, and overall user experience.

Specializing in master planning, stakeholder briefing, design development, and documentation management, Keirin has successfully led multidisciplinary teams from concept through to detailed design, site observation, and contract administration.

Nicola Lucas

Project Manager

Nicola understands the construction process from multiple perspectives. Sandra Torres del Castillo

Architect (Peru Registered)

Sandra, originally from Peru, has a broad architectural background spanning educational facilities, operating theatres, and commercial developments. Her three-year architectural thesis explored flexible spaces for the arts, innovative library typologies, and the integration of public spaces—establishing a strong foundation for her adaptive, community-focused design approach.

With a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating dynamic, user-centred environments, Sandra has contributed to the design and delivery of award-winning projects, including Surgeons on Clarence, a new endoscopy theatre recognised in the 2025 NZIA Waikato Bay of Plenty Awards (Commercial category) and the 2025 Resene Colour Maestro Awards. She is highly skilled in architectural documentation, ensuring every project is executed with precision and clarity.

Sandra’s expertise covers all stages of the design process—from concept and detailed design to interior design and project coordination. Her ability to combine creativity with functionality results in spaces that are visually compelling, highly adaptable, and tailored to the evolving needs of their users.

Thomas Brock

Architectural Technician

Nat Dip (Arch.Tech.)

Thomas is a skilled technician and BIM guru, having produced detailed documentation for a number of commercial projects including warehouses, car sales yards as well as education, health and residential projects.

With a robust knowledge across varying construction methodologies, NZ Standards, and the NZ Building Code, Thomas is a fastidious technician who brings a high level of detailing and logical methods to the varied projects he is involved in.

Complimenting his documentation skills, Thomas' role extends to coordinating and reviewing consultants various documents, to provide a seamless connection between all parties work before the documentation is issued for construction.

Thomas also plays an important role in supporting the design process, helping translate conceptual ideas into practical, buildable solutions. His attention to detail and technical expertise ensures that design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to outcomes that are both efficient to construct and high-quality in finish.

Lydia Yan

Architectural Technician

Lydia is originally from Shanghai before moving to New Zealand. She has a background in business and human resources, she brings a unique perspective to her architectural work. She has built solid experience across a wide range of projects, including a large-scale residential home on Waiheke Island and multiple Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) and St John facilities throughout the country.

Lydia’s strengths lie in architectural documentation, detailed drawing work, and understanding construction methods. She’s known for being highly detail-oriented and thrives in a team environment.

At APG, Lydia plays a key role in coordinating Revit models with external consultants, managing BIM workflows, and resolving any clashes between models to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.

Her hands-on, practical approach combined with a sharp eye for detail means Lydia helps keep projects on track and delivered to a high standard. She’s passionate about making sure every part of the design process runs as seamlessly as possible, contributing to the success of the whole team.

Henrietta (Retha) is part of the APG team as a Graduate Architect. Having relocated from Australia, she brings a wide range of experience from architecture through to cabinetry making and is an avid traveller. She offers a unified blend of education, technical proficiency, and project based experience that enhances APG’s multidisciplinary team.

She supports the team through technical drafting and a clear understanding of building codes and standards. She brings precision and clarity to every stage of the architectural process from design through to detailed documentation.

Retha contributes to APG’s reputation for delivering practical, sustainable, and value driven solutions across diverse sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare, and more helped by her skills to connect with the firm’s broader service offering.

Since joining the firm, Retha has embraced a steep learning curve, rapidly integrating into APG’s workflows and design culture. She brings a great deal of culture and joy into her community and infuses that sense of joy and beauty into everything she does.

Julia brings a globally informed perspective to her role as an Architect, with a particular focus on the renewal and adaptation of existing buildings.

Having trained and worked in Russia, Julia developed an early appreciation for architecture that stands the test of time. This experience continues to shape her approach, with an emphasis on extending the life of buildings through considered, contemporary interventions.

Her interest in sustainable design is complemented by a strong engagement with emerging technologies, including virtual and augmented reality. Julia sees these tools as integral to improving project outcomes across the full lifecycle of a building — from design and construction through to ongoing use and future change.
