The client’s dream was to open up the dilapidated dwelling to unbeatable views of the Waikato River and to reinterpret its original 1970s character in the context of modern life. Sprawled out on a nine-acre section, the updated and extended home features a new entry pavilion with large porte-cochere.

This new volume also contains a stunning master suite which is subtly separated from the main part of the roomy home via a glass link. Open-plan kitchen/dining/living spaces have undergone an extensive makeover for improved family fun and entertaining.

Children have the run of the revitalised bedroom wing comprised of bathroom, three bedrooms, lounge and deck overlooking the river. Random width and depth cedar cladding bookends the home with original white painted brick in the central block. Double-glazed joinery opens outdoors, while ensuring the home remains exceptionally warm.
