A new development on a green field site, the design brief to APG Architects was to create a high end early learning childhood centre for the developer and property owners, in conjunction with project managers Veros, and to design an eye catching building that would envelop the ethos of the daycare of providing meaningful-real life experiences and play based learning for children ranging in age from newborn right up until they start school.
The building is located in a rapidly growing suburb and will be a welcome development to the neighbourhood and convenient to parents as there is an existing primary school across the street and the local high school not far away.
At 500m2, the facility supports a roll of 87 children as well as teachers and support staff to enable a happy innovative and creative learning space that is reflective of the values of the developer and the end user.
The form of the building was a nod to the previous land use of farming in the district and takes the shape of a black barn similar to that seen throughout the farming district.
